  A great Alma bookstore is just what I needed!
  I cannot say enough good things about this incredible store. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and colorful. Everything is set up in a clear way with easy-to-find materials at every turn. Each employee is friendly and helpful. I recommend this place to absolutely anyone looking for a good book!

  Since I learned of Ballyhoo Books’ impending arrival, I have been eagerly anticipating its opening. Every community deserves the explorational opportunity of an independently run bookshop, and the delay in its opening due to COVID-19 public health concerns was very disappointing. However, being able to shop with Ballyhoo Books through Bookshop.org has been a great comfort and benefit. Dawn, the bookseller, has done a great job of curating recommended reading lists that are easy to access and navigate on any device, and is sure to greet you with a wealth of knowledge and passion if you reach out to her. The books are assured quality, and arrive in a timely manner - even with a three day COVID-related delay, my latest order arrived in 5 days.  I would urge anyone, even if you don’t have an independent bookshop in your community, to use Bookshop.org over less responsible corporate giants like Amazon.​

  In July 2021, I was thinking of all the things that would be important for me to teach my students as I headed into the classroom full-time as an elementary teacher. I thought to myself, “I have to reinforce to students how great reading is and get them to truly enjoy it,” but I realized that I could not remember the last time I picked up a book and read for enjoyment. So, I walked downtown Alma and came to the door of Ballyhoo Books. The amazing staff listened to my goals as a reader and interests and recommended Night Circus for me to read. About a month later, I finished it and came back to purchase The Girl on the Train and after that, it was It Ends with Us and the cycle kept going. I have read 27 books since July 2021. In 2022, my goal was to read 12 books, and I read 18. For 2023, my goal is to read 23 books and I am well on my way. I am so grateful that Ballyhoo helped me find a love for reading. As an Alma native, and a granddaughter to former Alma small business owners, I love knowing that such a wholesome bookstore and coffee cafe is right here in our town. Thank you for bringing this business to Alma!

  What a delight to have Ballyhoo Books come to our town! While we wait for the brick and mortar store to open, I thought I would try the online store.  I was so pleased with the selection. I found every book I was looking for, and they arrived quickly. I am so very happy to have a way to order online but still support a local, independent bookstore! I've already placed a second order, and I can't wait for the store itself to open up downtown.

  I love this bookstore! For the holidays we found a puzzle for my son-in-law, a game for my daughter, and several great children's books for the nieces and nephews. Special orders are also handled quickly and with great care. I enjoy browsing the shelves and finding interesting books to add to my "to read" list. This store is a great addition to the downtown area in Alma.
